ORGAN VOLUNTARIES North Wales is in focus this week. Vaughan Williams’s prelude on the hymn tune Rhosymedre (a village near Wrexham) is followed by the 50-year-old Postlude written by former professor at Bangor University, William Mathias, who is buried at St Asaph Cathedral.
CRC SPRING CONFERENCE will be with Tariq Ramadan, Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University. THIS SATURDAY! GARDEN PARTY on 16 June at 2.00pm – this year it helps to kick off the Broomhill Festival! We need your help; volunteers on the day and donations of 2nd hand books and quality gifts. This is an event for all the family with music, games, food and drink and market stalls. Please speak to Caroline F, Peter R or Sue H for more information.
SUNDAY 8 JULY will be a special day: all-age worship (including the baptism of Rose Ilsley … parish lunch … St Mark’s very own Olympics.) More details soon. Please aim to be there.

SOUP RUN This is a service that is greatly appreciated by those who turn up, and some of our stocks are getting low. We now have plenty of tins, but if anyone could supply any clothes – especially men’s socks and jumpers – all donations would be gratefully received. Many thanks. Gary.

CARDS, COFFEE & CAKE Saturday 19 May, 10am – 12noon,1 High Wray Close, Millhouses Lane. Coffee time is here again for the Goodwill Children’s Homes in South India. Last year we raised over £1000 – can we do it again?!
ROUNDHEADS AND CAVALIERS TOGETHER! Royalist or Republican, the Jubilee Bank Holiday is definitely an excuse for a party. Bring your picnics and your friends and we’ll all eat together on the Green on 3 June, after the 10.00 am service. Tables, chairs and soft drinks provided, plus children’s activities. Then we are all invited to continue the festivities in Broomhall on 4 June. More details on the posters in the entrance hall.

PENTECOST There will be a joint CTBB service on 27th May, 10.30am the Beacon at Broomhill, followed by a community lunch. There is no 10am service at St. Mark’s. All welcome at the Beacon – the more the merrier!

IDAHO 2012 The International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) aims to raise awareness of the impact of prejudice and discrimination on the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. To mark this event, the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health and Sheffield City Council are arranging a ‘One-minute NOISE’ THIS THURSDAY – to proclaim that homophobia and transphobia are unacceptable and have no place in our society. Key speakers. Peace Gardens at 5.15 pm; 1-minute noise at 6.00 pm.
SHEFFIELD PRIDE Saturday 2 June, 12-7 Endcliffe Park. We have the opportunity to show a Christian presence at Sheffield’s largest festival for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities.
