Douglas Davies is Professor in the Department of Theology and Religion, University of Durham and President of the British Association for the Study of Religion

Anthropologist and theologian, Professor Davies has made a life-time study of the role of ritual within the shaping of human experience and as a means of exploring our quest for meaning and significance. Internationally recognised as an expert in this sphere, Douglas is eminently qualified to help us engage with areas such as the centrality of ritual within being human, how ritual ‘works’, the relationship between ritual and the sacred, and ritual expressions of liberal/radical Christianity.
