Reflections on Traditional Advent Themes,
Sunday Evenings, 6.00 – 7.30 pm,
in the Upper Room, St Mark’s Church, Broomhill, Sheffield.
FOR ALL SORT OF REASONS, we are rarely given opportunity to engage with some of the most important aspects of life. These evenings aim to take a fresh, creative look at traditional Advent themes by drawing on poetry, prose, music, images and silence to aid reflection and make space for openness and sharing.
4 November Death
11 November Judgement
18 November Dying
25 November Heaven & Hell
These are not themes where expertise is either possible or desirable; rather, each of us brings our own experience and insights as well as our passions and concerns.
Evenings will start promptly at 6.00 pm and conclude by 7.30 pm so that anyone who wishes is able to go to Night Service at 8.00 pm. Refreshments will be served at the end. Please aim to arrive by 5.55 pm at the latest so that we can begin on time.
Sunday morning sermons at the 10.00 am service on these dates will also engage with these themes. You may find it helpful to attend.
Open to everyone. A warm welcome awaits you!
