LENT, HOLY WEEK & EASTER Please complete a feedback form!

PARISH DAY On Saturday 18 May we’re building on our successful parish weekend with a parish activity day: Nurturing Community – ‘In the Spirit!’. The day will lead into the ecumenical Pentecost service the following morning with several of the day’s workshops contributing to the worship! The day will start at 9.30 am concluding with worship at 3.30 pm. The programme has been designed to ensure families can take part with workshops and other activities to attract younger participants. Crèche and play provision will also be available. Booking forms are available on the website and at the back. For more info ask Ian, Sue, Shan, Anne, Tanya and Alistair.

NEW ELECTORAL ROLL can be viewed on the PCC notice board in the foyer.  It is now closed until the APCM on 25 April.  Please check your name is included and, if not, please complete an application form so that your details can be added after that date.

HAZEL FOX has been appointed the next CTBB Worker with Older People.  Hazel, a trained social worker with experience of working with families and among the elderly, will be employed on a part-time basis in the first instance and initially alongside Janet Brown.

CHURCH ELECTIONS for Church wardens and Parochial Church Councillors will take place at the Annual Parochial Meetings (see below).  Nomination forms can be found on the notice board in the entrance lobby. Who would you like to serve as a Churchwarden or represent you on the PCC? Are you willing to serve?

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL MEETINGS will be held THIS THURSDAY. There will be a shared supper at 7.00 pm, followed by the meeting at 8.00 pm. We will be reviewing the past year and looking forward to the next as well as electing two Churchwardens and up to 15 members of the Parochial Church Council. These are open meetings. Please sign up at the back if you are able to contribute some food.

CRC SPRING CONFERENCE ‘Christian Beginnings: Why Jesus didn’t die out,’ led by internationally acclaimed biblical scholar Gerd Lüdemann, Saturday 11 May 2013, 10.00 am-4.00 pm.  Non-members £15, CRC/PCN Members £13, Students £5.  Forms on the CRC table.REVIEW of this year’s Lent Course plus fresh input from Ian on the Corinthian Correspondence with respect to Equal Marriage and Women Bishops tonight, 6.00 – 7.30 pm in the Upper Room.  All welcome!

CaSS CHRISTIANS AND SHEFFIELD SCHOOLS is holding its AGM on Saturday 8 June, 10.00am – 3.00pm, at the Wilson Carlile Centre, featuring Bob Hartman, an internationally acclaimed storyteller for children.  Further details on the flyers on the card stall.

PONDERING THE PARABLES Parables are Jesus’ way to turn our world upside down and to challenge our assumptions and practices. Join the Thursday morning group at 11.15 am every week as we explore this.

LIONSTALE On 22 June St Mark’s will stage a community play to celebrate its 50th anniversary.  Please see the flyers and sign up if you would like to be part of this. Rehearsals begin today, 2.30-4.30 in church (this will be the weekly slot!). If you’ve signed up, please come along.

GIFT AID HMRC has introduced minor changes to Gift Aid, one of which is that donations can now only be ‘credited’ to an individual name and not joint names. Please ensure you include your title, first name, surname and  the house number/name, post code and date.  Without this information we are unable to claim the tax back. If anyone would like to know their total donations for the tax year 2012/13 please let me know and I will let you have that information around the end of April.  Thank you.
