LIVING THINKING FAITH is a six-week course running on Tuesdays at 7.30 pm in the lounge and beginning THIS TUESDAY. It is for anyone interested in discovering more about the Christian Way as understood and practised at St Mark’s. Flyers and sign-up sheet available at the back of church. All welcome!
SYRIA CRISIS APPEAL With one quarter of the population forced from their homes as a consequence of the ongoing conflict, the scale of humanitarian need in Syria beggars belief. We may not be able to care for these persons ourselves, but we can give generously to enable others to do so on our behalf. Please Gift Aid your donations if you are able to do so. There are Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) forms available as well as envelopes, but please note that cash is acceptable given our arrangements.
THE WELCOME TEAMS are looking a bit thin at the moment, and I’m hoping we can pad them out a bit. The work involved isn’t so very demanding – you don’t need to know the names of everyone in the congregation(!) – and the rewards are truly great. If you fancy knowing more about being part of this essential aspect of our ministry, please feel free to grab Gary (2316031 firstname.lastname@example.org) at your earliest convenience.
|CHORAL SCHOLARSHIPS are now available at St Mark’s. Scholars would be expected to sing at two of the three Choral Eucharists per month and one Night Service each semester as well as at other festival events, including two large choral devotions (in Lent and Advent) and services at Easter, but not over Christmas. Scholarships would coincide with the university year, running from the first week in October until the second week of June. Scholars would receive an annual bursary of £200 for their services. If you are interested, please contact Mark McCombs, the Director of Music (email@example.com), with details of relevant experience. Scholarships are awarded by audition.

|TODAY’S COFFEE Today we’re serving wonderful Gourmet Congo Coffee from the farmers of Sopacdi. Their leader Joachim has visited St Mark’s and we have supported the farmers by supplying hand tools and through the traumas of armed conflict. The coffee is now in Sainsbury’s as a limited edition – the first ever single origin Congo coffee. Do try it and tell your friends – if it sells really well it could become part of the permanent Taste The Difference Range. A special thanks to Richard Hide who donated this coffee today.
CAN YOU HELP? We are looking for volunteers to join our existing team of servers to carry the cross and candles during the 10 o’clock service. Adults and teenagers, all genders, this is an opportunity for you! Please have a word with Anne in the office or a member of the clergy. Thank you.
DO YOU HAVE A LICENCE? We would like to provide an opportunity for people who find it difficult to come to church to be given a lift here in a mini-bus. If you have a licence to drive a minibus and are interested in helping out, please let Ian, Sue or Briony know.
SOUP RUN Stocks – both tinned goods and clothing – are depleted right now and eagerly needed. Soup Run continued through the summer, so supplies have been under pressure. The winter months are approaching, and the nights are getting cold. Gary (2316031 firstname.lastname@example.org) and any of the other soup Run team leaders would be happy to talk to you more about what we need. Thank you!
