Weekly Update – 16th February 2014

PLEDGE APPEAL FOR 2014  To date 97 responses (compared to 113 for the 2013 Appeal) have been received with total extra giving of £8,995 (including recovered tax) promised in a full year towards the £13,400 target. These include 5 new pledges and 52 increases.  Grateful thanks to all who have responded.   We are getting close to having sufficient funds to maintain the work and mission of the Church at existing levels but more would help.   Consequently, if you have not done so please return your pledge form immediately.  Spares are available at the back of the Church.  Alternatively, if you are unable to change your giving you can simply send an email to Judith Pitchforth at judith@harbottle.demon.co.uk  to confirm.  Thanks, David Ryder, Treasurer.

There is a handout available explaining the purpose of the ‘Stations’ project.  The second station is now in place, do please take a moment to visit it.  If you would like to be involved in preparing a prayer station please speak to Sue Hammersley or Liz Anson.  Thank you.

WHITE ENVELOPES Will donors who requested white (weekly) envelopes please collect the new supply (from March 2014) from the back of the church as soon as possible. If anyone else would like to join this scheme please contact Judith Pitchforth as soon as possible. (Judith@harbottle.demon.co.uk)

Made by Chappell, mid-20th Century.  Well maintained.  FREE, but needs to be collected.  For info please contact Alan & Judith Brown on 266  7691.

NEWS FROM THE VICARIan and Liz are grateful for all your concern and care.  Ian is recovering well. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  Any cards sent to the Vicarage will be redirected.

While Ian is recovering it would be very helpful if church business could be directed to the Churchwardens, Mike Hunt and Gary Grief, and the Associate Vicar, Sue Hammersley then we can decide who’s best to follow it up.

ALAN BIRCHALL has had a fall and is on Huntsman 7 of NGH. If anyone would like to visit, please ring Roy Godden first, as he is co-ordinating the visiting.  A card would be a good alternative.

2014 marks 100 years of the Sheffield Diocese.  There are several celebration events being organised including Services around the Diocese.  Please see the poster at the back of church and let Anne in the office know if you would like to attend any.

SOUP RUN is in need of more tins again. Any donations of baked beans (with sausages if possible) or soup, preferably chicken, oxtail or vegetable would be greatly received. Many thanks.

BISCUITS Many thanks to all who’ve donated biscuits for Sunday morning refreshments. We’re well stocked at the moment, so it’s OK for you to stop for the time being.

ORGAN APPEAL UPDATE – The Appeal Fund is currently £98,200 just £1,800 short of our target.  It is not too late to give a pledge to meet our target.  Pledge forms to our Treasurer, David Ryder, please.  Given the success of the Appeal, the PCC has decided to enter into a contract as soon as possible with Wood of Huddersfield, Organ Builders, with the work expected to start by May 2014.  Consequently, David Ryder requests that all Pledges not yet paid be done so as soon as possible.
