PASSIONTIDE CHORAL SERVICE will take place at 6.00 pm on Palm Sunday, 13 April.  The service will incorporate the Requiem by Henry Walford Davies, first published in 1915 and composed “In Sacred Memory of all those who have fallen in the war.”  The service will also include a number of thematic organ devotions.  All welcome.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK: 11-17 MAY We would love more volunteers for house to house collecting. Last year we raised over £1,600; the Sheffield total was £54,663! We’ve contacted all of last year’s collectors via email or letter so you should have heard from us already, let us know if you haven’t. Thanks very much.

ST MARK’S GARDEN PROJECT is still fit and well, although its launch has been delayed for the time being.  Apologies to anyone expecting to plant trees today.  Your time will come!

IAN would like to thank everyone for their prayers, good wishes and kindnesses over the past weeks.  They have been a life-line!  He would also like to express his appreciation to Sue, Mike and Gary as well as to all who supported them.  It was a wonderful team-effort!  Ian returns to public ministry this weekend and intends to build up gradually from then on.  During his time away, he completed one or two modest writing projects, including some poetry – a selection of which is available on the card stall.

THANK YOU to everyone who supplied or purchased Fairtrade cakes last week.  £50 was raised and will be sent to Twin, a pioneer and leader of the fair trade movement, working to build better lives for the poorest and most marginalised in the trading chain.

ORGAN APPEAL UPDATE Following receipt of a further grant, the Appeal Fund is currently £103,000 and therefore our target of £100,000 has been exceeded! Further pledges/ donations are still welcome as any extra support will enable the £50,000 loan from the Church’s charity investment to be reduced.  Please send donations to our Treasurer, David Ryder. 

CHURCH ELECTIONS for Churchwardens and Parochial Church Councillors will take place at the Annual Parochial Church Meetings (see below).  Who would you like to serve as a Churchwarden or represent you on the PCC? Are you willing to serve? Nomination forms can be found at the back of church, along with the box in which to put completed forms.

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETINGS will be held on Wednesday 9 April.  Cheese, biscuits and wine will be served from 6.30 pm with the meetings starting at 7.00 pm.  We will be reviewing the past year and looking forward to the next as well as electing two Church-wardens, up to 15 members of the Parochial Church Council and two Deanery Synod reps (see below).

DEANERY SYNOD Elections for Deanery Synod Reps will also be taking place at the APCM.  This is an important and worthwhile role, which includes voting for our General Synod Reps, and it can make a real impact on the decisions of the wider church.  Nomination forms and information are at the back, and / or speak to Anne Padget, Deanery Lay Chair.

SHEFFIELD CREDIT UNION will hold its AGM at the Circle, Rockingham Lane, THIS THURSDAY 2014 with refreshments at 5.45 for a 6.00 p.m. start. St Marks has invested in the Credit Union as have several members of the congregation, and anyone is welcome to attend.
