NEW KNITTING GROUP! A monthly knitting group is starting up at St Marks on Saturday 10 May, 10.30 – 12 noon in the church lounge. New and experienced knitters welcome; bring your own projects or get involved in some group ones. Light refreshments will be available.  GARDENER WANTED Could anyone recommend a gardener to put in contact with a lady who requires some light weeding and help with outside plant pots? £10 per hour. WATCH flyers are at the back of church, which say what you can do to help the journey of women in ministry.  Please feel free to take some and to distribute them in other churches.  LUNCH DATES FOR YOUR DIARY 18 May (host – Briony Tayler), 8 June – shared meal with CTBB at St Andrew’s URC. Any volunteers to host in July?!GARDEN PARTY SAT 14 JUNE  Jane Padget and Briony Tayler are co-ordinating this event. If you’d like to be part of this exciting extravaganza, we need volunteers to act as helpers and stallholders. No prior experience necessary! Please sign up on the sheet, or speak to Jane or Briony.

ORGAN RESTORATION APPEAL Further pledges/donations are still welcome. Please send to our Treasurer, David Ryder. 

OCCASIONALLY someone will come to St Mark’s asking for money.  Please be confident that there is a discretionary fund as well as other sources of assistance.  Please refer anyone asking to a member of the clergy or a church warden rather than giving money yourself.  This will help us to develop a consistent and supportive response.  Thank you.

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK: 11–17 MAY Thanks very much to everyone who has agreed to do the door to door collecting this year. The envelopes will be ready to collect from the back of church from April 27th. We still have a few roads to cover if anyone would like to help out. Ceri Gallivan and Helen Hillman.CHRISTIAN AID MAY DAY TREK – MONDAY 5 MAY This year’s May Day Trek is a 5 mile circular route from Bents Green through the Limb and Porter Valleys. Registration forms are available at the back of church, on the website – www.sheffieldmaydaytrek.org.uk, or from Bridget Kellet on 275 9828. A form to collectively sponsor members of the congregation doing the walk is also at the back – please support them if you can. CHRISTIAN AID BUSK AID – SATURDAY 10 MAY Calling all musicians and singers! Busk Aid is taking place in the city centre again this year – last year it raised over £400. If you’re interested in performing popular mainstream music either individually or as a group, or if you can spare an hour to be a collector, please contact Alison Tresize on 0114 2365938.

ECO-CONGREGATIONS What do they do? Past Present and Future,’ is the title of an evening to be held at St Andrew’s, Psalter Lane on Thursday 8 May at 6.30 pm.  The evening is about ‘Greening’ our places of worship and our spiritual lives: how can we save energy, improve our gardens and take better care of creation?  Please see the poster at the back of church.  All welcome.

VETERAN PEACE CAMPAIGNER Bruce Kent, visits the Sheffield Quakers on the  29 April (St James Street), at 6.45 pm. The ‘No Faith In Trident’ tour will see Bruce meeting with faith groups across the UK to galvanise support against the Government’s plans to spend over £100bn on new nuclear weapons.
