ASCENSION DAY A special service on Thursday 29 May at 7.30 pm, followed by a ‘Christian Aid’ buffet supper hosted by the International Committee. Tickets: £5 waged; £3 concessions. A short film, ‘Somos Wichi,’ about the lives of an Argentinian community struggling to maintain their unique identity and culture, will be shown.

CTBB OPEN MEETING. After further thought and consultation, the CTBB Executive reached the conclusion that the Open Meeting scheduled for this Monday, 19 May, should be postponed until Monday, 20 October. This will give partner churches greater opportunity to consult their members about how they envisage CTBB evolving in the coming years before making submissions to the Exec by 1 September. The Exec will then draw up proposals for consideration prior to our gathering on 20 October. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Ian Wallis, Moderator.
20th ANNIVERSARY of women’s ordination to the priesthood will be celebrated here on Sunday 15 June at 10.00 am when Sue will preside and Rev’d Sarah Hills, Bishop’s Adviser in Pastoral Care and Reconciliation, will preach. The Diocese will also be celebrating on Saturday 14 June at 11.00 am at the cathedral when the preacher will be the Venerable Jane Sinclair. All welcome.
SEMINAR & LIBRARY EVENING will be happening on THIS WEDNESDAY, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start in the lounge. It is with author and poet Adrian Scott, and the title is “Writing as a Way of Allowing the Soul to Speak – The Poetry of an Ordinary Life”. It will draw upon two of his poetry books – “The Call of the Unwritten” and “Arriving in Magic”. Please see flyers in the library. All welcome. These books are also now available in the library.

CHRISTIAN AID UPDATE Thank you to everyone (especially Gary) who contributed to Busk Aid in the city centre on 10 May – the event raised £475. Sheffield May Day Trek – if anyone is interested in finding out how they could help with next year’s event, there will be a coffee and cake evening on Wednesday 21 May at 7.30 pm at the Central United Reform Church, Norfolk Street (opposite the Crucible). Sheffield Night Hike takes place on Saturday 28 June and is a 17 mile dusk-till-dawn trek from Lodge Moor to Hathersage and back.
