NEXT OF KIN Ian would like to reassure all those who entrusted him with details of their next of kin that he has passed them on to Sue who will look after them until his successor has been appointed. In the meantime, if anyone else wishes to add their NoK details for use in case of emergency, Sue would be happy to receive them.  Thank you.

THE ANNUAL CHRISTIAN AID CAROL SINGING event in the city centre is on Saturday 6th December. The time slot for St Mark’s is 2.30pm – 3.30pm.  It’s great fun, gets you in the Christmas mood and cheers up the passing shoppers. Last year’s event raised £1,470. THANK YOU for all your purchases of Harvest produce.  We raised £176.50 for Christian Aid.

POVERTY IN SHEFFIELD TODAY: Public meeting from 10 am to 12.30 pm on Saturday 29 November at Victoria Hall Methodist Church. Opened by Bishop of Sheffield, with talks on Listen Up interviews (including Broomhall), Food Banks, Benefit Sanctions  and the Fairness Commission.  Organised by Church Action on Poverty, Sheffield Equality Group and People’s Assembly for Sheffield. Please come.

THE RELUCTANT PATIENT is the title of Ian’s latest book.  If you have signed the list at the back of church please bring your £6.50 and collect your copy from the vestry.  We have been over-subscribed and are approaching Ian for more copies!

ADVENT STUDY GROUPS

Dying to Live This is another joint project with the Manor Team.  Two sessions with different themes will be taking place on 7 & 14 December.  Please sign up at the back if you would like to come and indicate if you need help with transport.  See flyer for more details.

BROOMHALL INTERFAITH WALK This will be at the end of Interfaith Week, THIS SATURDAY. We will meet here at St Mark’s Church, at 2pm and then proceed to various faith locations in Broomhall, finishing at about 3.30pm. PARISH WEEKEND Following the success of our weekend in 2012, we have booked the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, for 18-20 September 2015.  This is definitely one not to miss.  For all ages and outlooks!

 

THE CHRISTMAS CARD STALL supporting Oxfam and Fairtrade will be available on Sunday mornings after the service for three Sundays from 23rd November to 7th December.

FAIRGROUNDS, the fairtrade shop on Whitham Road, Broomhill, will be open for St Mark’s from 6pm-9pm on Thursday 27th November. Light refreshments will be available. See flyer for further details, or contact Tim and Helen Gregory.

THE EBOLA EMERGENCY APPEAL supporting the work of Medecins Sans Frontieres raised £486, and the gift aid will contribute a further £97. Many thanks for your generous support.

NATIONAL PRAY DAY FOR SCHOOLS Wed 19th Nov 1.30 – 4.30pm Broomhill Methodist Church. This year there will be interactive prayer stations focussing on Christian activities in our schools across the city. It would be lovely to see you, bring your friends.
