THE RELUCTANT PATIENT is the title of Ian’s latest book.  If you have signed the list at the back of church please bring your £6.50 and collect your copy from the vestry.  We have been over-subscribed and are approaching Ian for more copies!

THE ANNUAL CHRISTIAN AID CAROL SINGING event in the city centre is on Saturday 6th December. The time slot for St Mark’s is 2.30pm – 3.30pm.  It’s great fun, gets you in the Christmas mood and cheers up the passing shoppers. Last year’s event raised £1,470. POVERTY IN SHEFFIELD TODAY: Public meeting from 10 am to 12.30 pm THIS SATURDAY at Victoria Hall Methodist Church. Opened by Bishop of Sheffield, with talks on Listen Up interviews (including Broomhall), Food Banks, Benefit Sanctions  and the Fairness Commission.  Organised by Church Action on Poverty, Sheffield Equality Group and People’s Assembly for Sheffield. Please come.

ST MARK’S STUDENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS GROUP are looking for volunteers to help them cook large vats of curry, and for some guidance on how to run a meaningful theological discussion. Dying to Live This is another joint project with the Manor Team.  Two sessions with different themes will be taking place on 7 & 14 December.  Please sign up at the back if you would like to come and indicate if you need help with transport.  See flyer for more details.

MEN 50+ NEEDED FOR STROKE RESEARCH We need men 50+ for a research project on language! The results will provide important information about language difficulties that result from stroke. The study takes place at the Department of Human Communication Sciences and takes no more than 45 minutes to complete. In order to take part, you must be between 50 and 80 years old, be a native speaker of British English, have no history of speech or language difficulties and no history of mental health disorders.

THE CHRISTMAS CARD STALL supporting Oxfam and Fairtrade will be available on Sunday mornings after the service for three Sundays from TODAY to 7th December.

FAIRGROUNDS, the Fairtrade shop on Whitham Road, Broomhill, will be open for St Mark’s from 6pm-9pm THIS THURSDAY. Light refreshments will be available. See flyer for further details, or contact Tim and Helen Gregory.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL GREETINGS CARD CAMPAIGN 2014 After Parish Eucharist on Sunday, 7 December you will be able to sign greetings cards to prisoners of conscience and detained human rights activists. Please bring small cards or postcards suitable for air mail post. It takes only a few minutes to send a message of hope to someone who is in solitary confinement and thinks they have been forgotten.
