LENT GROUPS There are now sign-up sheets at the back of church if you wish to attend a Lent Group.  This year’s theme is “The Lion has roared – who can but Prophesy”.  Please see the flyers at the back of church for more details. SUNDAY LUNCH 15 FEB this will be for anyone who is usually on their own for Sunday lunch and would like some company. Please give your name to Briony  if you want to stay. CALLING ALL WELCOMERS! Interested in meeting new (and not-so-new) members of St Mark’s? Our Welcome Teams are a perfect opportunity to get to know people in the congregation and we’re looking for new members to join existing teams. This is a fun but vital part of our ministry, so if you’re interested please contact Sarah M. CHURCH ACTION ON POVERTY ANNUAL SERVICE This will be at 6.30 pm on Sunday 15 February at Victoria Hall Methodist Church with the theme ‘Visions of a Good Society’.  The preacher will be Rev Dr Alan Billings, Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire. DONATIONS VIA WEEKLY WHITE ENVELOPES Supplies of new envelopes for use from 1st March are available at the back of the church today. VESTRY HOUR A member of the clergy will be available in church on Thursdays between 5pm and 6pm (not 5.30pm as in The Messenger).  Please call in if you’d like to talk to one of us. CTBB AGM The date of the AGM has now been changed Monday 23rd March at 7.30pm at the Beacon at Broomhill. Please would you notify everyone in your churches who might wish to come to the AGM. PARISH WEEKEND Just a reminder that our next chance to be away together as a whole church community will be at the Parish Weekend at the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, on 18-20 September 2015!  This will be officially launched at the Shrove Tuesday Auction… PANCAKE PARTY AND AUCTION OF PROMISES Shrove Tuesday, 17 Feb Family fun throughout the evening – from 5.30 there’ll be fun and games for all ages – bring favourite family games!  Pancakes will be served until about 7.30 and the Auction will begin at 8pm. Catalogues now available for 50p. LONDON CLIMATE DEMO Saturday 7 March. 50 seats on 9.29 London train and returning on 20.57 from St Pancras. PLEDGE APPEAL FOR 2015 – To date 81 responses have been received with total extra giving of £10,509 (including recovered tax) promised towards our target of £10,000.  This is good news but more income would be welcome so if you have not yet responded please do as soon as possible.  Spare Pledge Appeal packs including a pledge form are available at the back of the Church.  Please respond prayerfully to this request.BROOMHALL YOUTH CLUB Thank you to all who have responded to my appeal for helpers.  Please keep the youth work in Broomhall in your prayers.  Sue CHARITY MUSICAL EVENING THIS FRIDAY 13 February at St Andrew’s URC at 7.30pm. Broomhall Community Choir will be performing and the event will be in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Poppy Scotland. It is an informal, friendly group that meets on Tuesday mornings 10-12 at St Andrew’s URC and new members are welcome! ISLAM AWARENESS WEEK – CELEBRATION OF FOOD! On the evening of March18th Abdool and friends will be sharing a feast of flavours from different cultures here at St Mark’s.  Details will be available nearer the time but please keep the date free and pass the word around – this is a vital time to build relationships with our Muslim sisters and brothers. THREAT TO DEVONSHIRE GREEN AND HANOVER MEDICAL CENTRE Both are threatened with a withdrawal of funding which could greatly damage the health facilities for people in Broomhall.  Please sign petition on www.devonshiregreenandhanover.co.uk or at either medical centre.

KEY AMNESTY We are reviewing our records of everyone who has a church key.  If you have any church keys, please let Anne in the office know ASAP – by e-mail, phone or see me after church – what key(s) you have, and for what purpose.  The deadline for this is 22nd February. Details: Rosalind 268 1426 NEW CONGREGATIONAL LIST We are putting together a brand new Congregational List from scratch.  This is NOT the Electoral Roll, but a contact list for members of the congregation to be on if they wish.  A copy of it is then made available for all who are on that list.  If you only want your contact details to be available to clergy, there is that option.  Please can EVERYBODY who wishes to be on the list (both public and clergy only ones) – fill in a form at the back and put it in the box provided by 22 MARCH.  The new list will be out from Easter Sunday.
