NIGHT SERVICE SPECIAL EVENT – ALL WELCOME   NEXT SUNDAY 6:30pm Bring and Share Meal.  Family and friends welcome followed by Taizé service at 8pm for those who would like to stay. More details of night service events on www.nightservice.org.uk

ASCENSION DAY The Ascension Day service THIS THURSDAY will be at 10.30am NOT in the evening.  All are welcome to attend.

PENTECOST As usual, we shall be worshipping with our ecumenical partners in CTBB.  This year the service will be at Beacon in Broomhill Methodist Church, on 24 May at 10.30 am (nb later time), followed by a Bring & Share lunch. There will be no 10am service here.

FRIENDSHIP CLUB Wednesdays at 1.30pm in the church lounge. 13 May:  “Sounds Interesting”: musical instruments you may not have met before…All welcome.  Modest charge. Details from Rosalind 268 1426

UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD GOSPEL CHOIR THIS WEDNESDAY at 6.30pm in Crookes Wesley Hall Church.  Entry is free and all donations go to Christian Aid.  All welcome.

FUN, FITNESS & FOOD Please support a fund raising event at the Crosspool Beacon at Stephen Hill. THIS TUESDAY, 3pm – 4.30pm. Craft stalls, cakes to buy and refreshments to enjoy. All welcome. £4 tickets from Jane Padget.

PARISH WEEKEND – PROVING POPULAR!Thank you to all who have booked already there are still places available if you’re thinking of coming.  It promises to be a wonderful weekend together at the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, on 18-20 September 2015!  Please see the flyers at the back.

NEW PUBLICATION John Wood has produced a booklet which is on sale for a £1.00 at the back of the Church. This is entitled ‘John Wood looks at the Bible’ and includes the sermon he preached at St Mark’s on his 90th birthday.  He hopes the contents will be of interest to friends at St Mark’ s and hopefully  intends to publish 5 other booklets in the series.

LEARN AND BOOST CHURCH FUNDS Join one of our Enneagram Workshops.  Some people bid at the Auction of Promises for a place.  We now have three planned: 30 May , 18 July or 17 October. CLIMATE CHANGE LOBBY: ACT TODAY!! The Climate Coalition is organising a lobby of the new Parliament on Weds17th June, entitled “Speak Up For the Love of..” Ecumenical service at 12noon, lobbying constituency MPs 1-4pm. MUSICIANS: ST MARK’S NEEDS YOU! Do you sing in the shower? How would you like to sing in St Mark’s Choir instead? We rehearse weekly on Thursdays, 6.30-8pm to prepare for our contributions to Sunday morning worship. Do you play an instrument? How would you like to lead the music at a Sunday morning Service or a Night Service? St Mark’s is looking to hear more and more from our talented congregation, and to get all of our musicians involved! FROM MAGNA CARTA TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS ACT At the Broomhill Festival on Wednesday, 10 June 2015 at 7.30p.m. David Price and Steve Eccleston will give an illustrated talk on the 800-year-old legacy of Magna Carta. This event is organised by the Sheffield Amnesty International Group. Proceeds from a retiring collection will go towards the Broomhill Festival charities and Amnesty International.
