|ANNOUNCEMENT!! We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rev’d Sue Hammersley as the next incumbent of St Mark’s. Sue has been the Associate Vicar here for nearly five years and will be instituted and inducted as incumbent THIS THURSDAY at 7.30pm. We are really excited about Sue’s vision for our church and the skills and expertise she will bring to the role.
SUE’S INSTITUTION AND INDUCTION There will be celebratory food and drink after the service on Thursday, from around 9.00pm. If you’d like to help, please add your name to the sign-up sheet. Thank you, Briony.
PARISH WEEKEND – FUN FUND-RAISING AHEAD! For a little extra fun in raising funds for the Parish Weekend we shall be having a raffle NEXT SUNDAY. The prize will be half a crate, i.e. 6 bottles, of very lovely Prosecco, kindly donated by Jonathan and Cath Williamson from their wedding! Tickets will be £1 each or £5 a strip and are on sale after church TODAY and on the night of Sue’s induction. In addition we shall be doing a silver trail that day, so please save up all your bits of silver (and gold!) so we can see if we can make a trail go all the way around the inside of the church and what we might raisewith all our little coins together. If you have booked a place, you should have received either an e-mail or a paper copy in your pigeonhole of further details, including workshops choices. Please respond to these as soon as possible. Also if people could pay their deposits and balances that would be helpful. Thanks.
CONGRATULATIONS! to Peter and Anna Ryder on the birth of their daughter, Abigail Ruth, who was born on Sunday 16th August at 7.33pm, weighing in at 6lb 10oz. Our very best wishes to you all.

The OUR Broomhall heritage project was aimed at capturing and recording the changing history and diverse nature of our area. Uncovering the hidden heritage and social history of Broomhall has enabled us to showcase a more positive story and create a more positive identity within the city of Sheffield. Come and experience this story with ‘The Hidden Worlds of Broomhall Revealed’ Exhibition and the book launch, with Paul Blomfield MP, which unveils the history and foundation of the Mission Room (now the Broomhall centre) since 1904. Booking is not essential but preferred. To book your place please email on email@example.com

ELECTRICAL GOODS – DONATIONS WELCOME We are still looking for a washing machine and TV for someone setting up a new home. Any offers to Anne in the office. Thank you.
GENERAL SYNOD A new 5 year term of office starts later this year. Our Diocese has 3 Lay Representatives. In the vote for Women Bishops, 2 of our 3 reps voted against this legislation. In the next 5 years the issue of human sexuality is likely to be discussed. The General Synod is the Church of England’s parliament and it is vital that the moderate, majority view is well represented (the extreme edges are much better at getting motivated not only to stand but also to vote for their candidates). Can you think of someone who would be good for this role? If so, speak to Anne Padget, 07736 527777.
ELECTRONIC VERSION of Sunday’s liturgy can be emailed to you in advance. Please contact Anne in the office.

Attendance is free, but please let us know if you are planning to attend for the meal so we know numbers for catering firstname.lastname@example.org
“RE-IMAGINING CHURCH No Longer Male and Female” is the next CRC conference on Saturday 24th October. It is being put on in association with WATCH (Women and the Church). Now that we have women bishops some may consider the journey to be over. It is, however, just beginning. Three women, Kathy Galloway, Emma Percy and Jelly Morgans, invite us to engage in conversation. Together we will dream dreams and explore strategies for the radical transformation of the church at every level and across denominations so that it more adequately reflects and embodies a ‘genderful’ God. Please see the booking forms on the CRC stall for more info and to book your place.
