New to Sheffield/St. Marks? Student or Young Adult?

New people move to Sheffield or start coming to St. Mark’s throughout the year, and are really welcome whenever they come along!  As the new academic year starts, it is more common to see new faces, either new students, graduates or perhaps people starting a new job. Whatever age or stage you are, there are many things within St. Mark’s to get involved in!

We are an inclusive church who encourage critical questions as an important part of our faith. We are committed to social justice and try to relate our faith to the world we inhabit. We provide a thoughtful, creative space for those who simply want to ‘be’. We welcome all, regardless of gender, age, background or sexuality.

For the first few weeks of term – Sunday 27th September and Sunday 4th October, we will be meeting outside Morrisons in Broomhill (directions) before the services so that you can walk down to church in a group and not have to arrive on your own. We’ll meet at 9:50am for the morning service (which starts at 10am) and 7:50 for the evening service (which starts at 8pm). Feel free just to show up or meet us at church if you would prefer!

Alongside going to a pub near church most Sunday evenings, we make a regular trip to the pub quiz, at the Cobden View pub in Crookes, each Tuesday! We hope the quiz might be a good opportunity for people to get to know each other better and hopefully some other ideas of what we might all like to do mid-week will form.  The quiz generally starts at 9.15pm, and there are hot dogs (and veggie options) served at half-time!

We also have a facebook group (see here for details), which will have details of the meals and any other events happening for students and young people. The church website also has loads of information about St Marks and will help you decide if it might be a good church for you and has details of all the service times and church events, as well as a specific page for students and young adults (see here).

We look forward to meeting anyone who would like to come along!
