CHRISTIAN AID has produced FREE Advent colouring candles to help us journey prayerfully through Advent. You can still pick up a card from the back of Church, with its reflections for each week of Advent. Helen Hillman

ST MARK’S IN PRINTAGAIN! Churches of the Church of England: Director’s Choice‘ is being published soon. The publishers website (Scala) says: ‘The churches featured (including St Mark’s) in this beautifully illustrated volume have been drawn from each of the 42 dioceses to showcase their varied architecture, art and uses’. The RRP in January will be £12.95 but we have an opportunity to buy in advance in bulk at a reduced price. If you would be interested in buying copies please see Sarah C.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL GREETINGS CARD CAMPAIGN ’16. After the service today you will be able to sign greetings cards to prisoners of conscience and detained human rights activists. It only takes a few minutes to send a message of hope to someone who is being tortured or in solitary confinement and thinks they have been totally forgotten. Robin Story

WELCOME BACK , SHAN!  My sabbatical has been a productive but challenging time, reviewing my vocations. With mixed feelings, I have left Bluebell Wood where I was chaplain for nearly 3 years. I will return to my role as Assistant Priest here reflecting on the questions Sue posed in her Stewardship Letter: what do I need from St Mark’s and how do I contribute to its life? Thank you for sharing this journey as we discern our vocation together. Shan

CHILDREN’S SOCIETY BOXES

Please either bring the box to church for me to empty and send the cash off, or empty the box yourself and let me have a cheque for amount enclosed. Cheques should be made payable to ‘The Children’s Society.’  Ensure the box is locked in the Vestry if I’m not there.  Thank you! Susan

CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR ALL. There is a board available to display cards addressed to the whole congregation. Cards from former church members of the congregation will be displayed there too. Sue and Sarah

SOLAR ENERGY Several members of St Marks are already investors in Sheffield Renewables, which installs solar panels on community buildings. There is now a chance to invest in their second share offer, closing on 31 December. The scheme will provide benefit to local organisations and also pays 3% return to investors. NEW PRAYER GROUPS 2017

1) An open Julian Prayer Group will start on Mon 16th Jan at 6.30pm. A contemplative space with extended silence at its heart. Every Monday night from 6.30-7.30pm in the Chapel, just come along when you can. For info see Cath W or Sarah C.

2) Intercessory prayer group(s); clergy have had several requests for one or more groups. Please contact Sarah C  if you would like to be put in touch with interested others.  We’re aiming for a January start date.
