VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TODAY

after the service to assist in taking down Christmas decorations from around the church. Any help greatly appreciated.

 

NEW PRAYER GROUPS 2017

1) An open Julian Prayer Group will start on Mon 16th Jan at 6.30pm. A contemplative space with extended silence at its heart. We’ll meet every Monday night from 6.30-7.30pm in the Chapel, just come along when you can. For info see Cath W or Sarah C.

2) Intercessory prayer group(s); clergy have had several requests for one or more groups. Please contact Sarah C  if you would like to be put in touch with interested others.

 

RHIANNON CLAYTON The Memorial Service for Rhiannon will be held here at St Mark’s at 11am on Monday 16th January., All are welcome to attend. Please continue to hold her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

 

TURN CHRISTMAS CARDS INTO NEW TREES Take your cards to an M&S store before the end of January (2015 box was at Fargate entrance) to raise money for the Woodland Trust. Remember – no cards with glitter, they can’t be used. For those unable to get there we will put a collection box at St Marks from 8-22 Jan. For details contact Michael & Pauline Miller

 

FRIENDSHIP CLUB meets in the lounge at 1.30 on Wednesdays.11 Jan: Michael Bayley will speak on “Hope for the Future”.  All welcome. Details from Rosalind on 268 1426.

SUNDAY LUNCH TODAY There will be a bring and share meal today co-ordinated by the International Committee. Please stay to share food and stories from the festive season.  Sue

 

VISITING PREACHER TODAY  We have Liz Carnelley from the Church Urban Fund sharing her experience of NEAR NEIGHBOURS a project which helps to cross the divisions within communities. Stay for lunch afterwards to share in conversation with her.

 

HELP us HELP is a new campaign being set up by Paul Blomfield MP together with local groups who work with people who are homeless in Sheffield. It will provide concerned individuals with information, contact details, resources and guidance on how best to offer support. The website is www.helpushelp.uk   Sarah

 

THANK YOU  to all who have helped with extra Services over Christmas: flower arrangers, welcomers, Christingle helpers, refreshment coordinators, servers, readers, intercessors and vergers; to our sacristan, silver cleaner linen washers and transport providers…  There is more to this church than meets the eye so thank you all!  If you’d like to join one of the teams, please have a word with Sue, Sarah or Shan.

LIFE AND DEATH MATTERS CAFE  – Will be resuming on 10th  January. 10.30am -12 in the lounge.  All are welcome.  Jane Padget

 

PIGEON HOLES are available for your use. They are situated under the library shelves nearest to the lounge.

PLEDGES FOR 2017  – To date 56 responses have been received with total extra giving of £7,300 (including recovered tax) promised towards our target of £9,900. They include 4 new pledges and 20 increases.  This is very encouraging and grateful thanks to all who have responded so far.   However, we still need further increased income of £2,600 and therefore, if you have not done so, please return your pledge form as soon as possible (even if you are unable to increase your giving).  Spare Pledge Appeal packs including a pledge form are available at the back of the Church.  Thank you.  David Ryder.

 

WELCOME TEAMS Interested in getting to know people more at St Mark’s? We are looking for new people to join our Welcome Teams at the Sunday 10am service. Teams are on duty every six weeks so it’s not a significant commitment, but it is a rewarding and fun part of our ministry. For more information please contact Sarah Moore.

WINTER CLOTHING is very much in demand at Soup Run just right now So if you’ve got any spare coats or other warm items that folk who are on the streets might particularly appreciate, Soup Run would be very grateful for them. CHURCH OFFICE NEWS! We are delighted to welcome Innes MacLeod, our new church administrator. His hours are 9am -1pm, Mon- Friday.. Additionally, Sarah Cole will be working part time as Sue’s PA and also for the CRC. We are hugely grateful to Anna Sandersfield and Anna Ryder who have done sterling work covering admin duties over the past few months. Sue, Sarah and Shan

 

THE LOGOS BIBLE STUDY continues its stately exploration of John’s gospel. Meeting on the 3rd Friday of each Month at 7:30pm in the vicarage. No previous attendance or experience needed. Next meeting 20th January.

CHILDREN & COMMUNION- NURTURING FAITH There will be a meeting on Monday 23rd Jan for the parents/carers of the youngest members of our congregation, to offer space for discussion and reflection. See flyers for more details or talk to Sue/Sarah
