FUNDRAISING FOR THE PARISH WEEKEND starts very soon with a Shrove Tuesday PANCAKE PARTY in the lounge from 5.30 to 7.30pm Bring your own bottle and small cash donation to cover the fillings in the pancakes. Please could some people make me batches of 10 pancakes in advance to be warmed up on the evening. THE BIG WEEKEND AWAY itself is from 21-23 Sept 2018 at The Hayes Conference Centre, Derbyshire. Please put the dates in your diary now! Tanya

CHRISTMAS STAMPS Thank you to all who left stamps over Christmas.  I’ve just sent off two massive bags to the RNIB.  A display of some of the international stamps is in the lounge for those interested. Sarah R

ST MARK’S GREAT GET TOGETHER on Sat 16 June. Can you help? We now have some volunteers but need a few more to join the group who will plan and delegate! Our first meeting will be Weds 21st Feb at 7.30pm. Please talk to me asap. Sarah C.

NEW(ish) TO ST MARK’S? Pledge packs are available all year round for people who wish to start supporting the church financially through regular direct debit payments or via the envelope scheme.  Please talk to David Ryder or Judith Pitchforth, or to clergy.

PLEDGE RESPONSES FOR 2018 –  Regular, pledged giving is the best way for St Mark’s to manage our finances.   So far only 64 pledge forms have been returned so, please return your 2018 pledge form as soon as possible (even if you are unable to increase your giving).  Packs (including a pledge form) are available in the foyer.

CRC SEMINAR MORNING Sat 17th Feb, 10-12 in the Upper Room. Sarah and Rachel Hagger-Holt will be talking about issues around LGBT parenting, and their recent book on the subject, Pride and Joy.

PENNY RALPH (Tanya’s mum) died suddenly following a very short illness.  Please hold the whole family in your prayers as they come to terms with their loss.  Her funeral will be held at St Mark’s on Thursday 8 February at 2pm.

LENT 2018 – sign-up sheets available TODAY. We’ve planned something slightly different this year and invite you to join home groups based around the BBC TV series, “Broken” – a drama following the life of a Catholic priest serving an urban parish with many social issues.  Each week we shall watch an episode and consider, “Where is hope to be found?” See flyers for more details and sign up today! ‘AGAINST THE GRAIN – AN EVENING WITH GARTH HEWITT’ on Sat 12th May (7:30pm) at St Mark’s Church. Drawing on his extensive catalogue of songs old and new, Garth sings of hope and justice for uncertain times. Info from Simon Ennals or Tanya Ralph. Tickets will available in church nearer the time.

ANOTHER JOB OPPORTUNITY WITH CRC we are seeking to recruit a curator/researcher for the creation of an online library of liturgical, spirituality and theological resources.
