Latest news on the re-opening of St Mark’s

St Mark’s is slowly reopening…

We are very glad to be able to reopen the building now at prebooked times for private prayer and for a few church services during August – please read on to find out more details. You’ll see that we are taking a cautious approach in order to ensure the well being of all, but you will be made very welcome if you do wish to visit us.

Visiting for private prayer.

If you would like to arrange a quiet visit to church for private prayer, please contact the church office ( and a suitable date and time will be arranged for you. There are restrictions and procedures in place to keep everyone safe and more information will be given to you when you book.

Attending a Sunday service in church.

The PCC has decided to use the month of August as a trial period to see what it feels like to return to church for Sunday worship under very different conditions.

All Sunday and weekday services will continue on Zoom as at present but there will  also be one service in the building each Sunday. This will be ‘shared’ with those at home via Zoom and the words of the service will be displayed on the new large screen in church.

The services coming up soon are:

  • 9 August @10am – Parish Eucharist
  • 16 August @8am – BCP Communion
  • 23 August @10am – Parish Eucharist
  • 30 August @10amWe’re keeping our options open, maybe Eucharist outside?

Please get in touch with the church office ( to express your interest if you wish to attend a service on 16, 23 or 30 August (9 August now fully booked).  This is really important as we have do have an upper limit on numbers in order to keep everyone safely distanced . Please note that the current instruction is that you should wear a face covering (if you are able) for worship inside the building. Further information will be sent to you after you book with regard to the restrictions and procedures that are in place for that particular day.

We know that this is very different from the way services have been held previously and we will continue to listen and adapt.  We want to try to worship together but we are all learning together too, so please bear with us as we try to facilitate ways to gather in safety. Thank you for your loyalty and patience.
