don't forget to turn back your clocks this Sunday 25 October 2020. Lord of the hours, as we shift the hands of our clocks  to fit the changing seasons,  may we remember you  in every moment; and may your Love  be the measure of our lives, ticking hope through every second of existence. Amen.

ANNUAL SERVICE OF THANKSGIVING AND REMEMBRANCE – We will be offering a service on Sunday 1st November at 7pm for those who have had a recent bereavement to remember their loved ones. Please email by Friday 30 October if you would like a name added to the list of those who will be remembered out loud.  Details of the service will be distributed in next Friday’s email. The Clergy team. 

OUR ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETINGS (APCM) will be held straight after a shortened morning service on THIS SUNDAY (at 11am) on Zoom (the code will be the same as the one for the morning service).  The draft Minutes of last year’s APCM may be viewed here  If anyone notices amendments, please email Emily by Saturday evening. Everyone is welcome to join us but only those on the Electoral Roll may vote or stand for PCC. Sue   

CHURCHWARDENS ELECTION With our APCM happening, most unusually, in Oct the election of Churchwardens will be followed by an unusual Archdeacon’s Service!  This will be held in our Deanery, at St John’s Church, Ranmoor on 2 Nov.  Since places are very restricted we won’t be able to be there in person to support our Churchwardens, but please do pray for them especially in these very challenging times. Sue 

PRIVATE PRAYER IN ST MARK’S We are pleased that individuals (& households) are still able to attend pre-booked quiet prayer in St Mark’s. Please contact the office to book but it is helpful if you suggest your availability.  An email will be sent outlining the necessary precautions. ( Sarah R 

PRAYERFUL AFTERNOON ADVENTURES 4PM, 1ST NOV This is a service to embrace the shortening days and find wonder and joy in light sparkling through the darkness! It is essential that we know in advance who would like to come to these events as the service will include sparklers and we need to anticipate how best to prepare the space and resources, alongside maintaining social distancing. Please email the office by Noon on Fri 30 Oct, to express interest as will be on annual leave next week. You will then receive confirmation with more details about attending.  Hannah Jones 

SHEFFIELD FOREST CHURCH A small group from local church communities have set up a monthly forest church gathering. A service will be held on the last Saturday of the month at a different location in the city focusing on nature connection and all age outdoor worship. VIRTUAL POSADA 2020 – sign up closing SOON. Posada is going online this year! This is a really lovely opportunity to share hospitality throughout the community by creating little videos for each day of Advent. BROOMHILL LIBRARY ROCK GARDEN & PLANTING DAYS will be Weds 28 October and 4 November. We are seeking a few volunteers particularly those with muscle for wheelbarrowing and mulch spreading on the rocky slope.  If anyone is interested, please e-mail: or message on 07582472226 Kathy Harbord 

BROOMHALL GIRLS YOUTH GROUP are looking for Female Youth Workers and Volunteers to help provide a safe, inclusive space for girls and young women between the ages of 10-18 to meet together, relax, socialise and learn new skills. The group runs on Wednesdays between 4pm and 8pm. More information can be found on their Facebook page, or contact Sahra Ahmed (Youth Worker) at or Hannah Jones (Chair of Trustees) at Hannah J

WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU – Each week during morning and evening prayer, the clergy and pastoral care team pray for each one of you. If you have a specific prayer request for the pastoral care team or for intercessions at services, please let us know by e-mailing office@stmarkssheffield, or by contacting one of the clergy. Specific requests will remain on the intercessory prayer list for 4 weeks. If there is a need for the request to remain in the prayers for longer, please have a conversation with one of the clergy team. Thank you. Shan      

CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Unfortunately it is not possible to have the usual Christmas card stall in church this year, but Good Taste – the Sheffield Fair Trade Shop in Broomhill have advent calendars, and Christmas cards from Tearfund and Traidcraft, and will deliver them locally if you are not able to get into the shop to pick them up. 

All the Christmas items and other gifts, Fairtrade chocolate, food etc are available through the new webshop from Good Taste by following this link 

Good Taste will make a donation of 5% of all online, email and phone orders to your choice of one of their 5 charities. Further information can be found on the Charities page of the Good Taste website
