Do read to the end, not all new notices are at the beginning! 😊

HOLY WEEK AT ST MARK’S
Information about the planned Holy Week activities across the whole Mission Area is now available on the St Mark’s website here.
We’ll be sending out an email on MONDAY with all the Zoom codes and information you need for Holy Week.
MAUNDY THURSDAY via Zoom – further details to follow.
GOOD FRIDAY This year we will be holding a ‘Retreat in Daily Life’, beginning at 9am with Morning Prayer and ending with Evening Prayer at 5pm. Throughout the day we will be holding spaces for gathered reflection (over Zoom, at 9.45am, 12noon & 3pm) as well as sharing ideas for personal reflection in the between spaces. Join us for the whole day, for part of the day, or through prayer by working through the resources in your own time. Further information will be available on the church website in due course. Cate
The church building will be open for private prayer between 9am and 5.30pm, and music will be played at half hour intervals between 12 and 3pm.
Good Friday All-age gathering (readers needed) The first of our gatherings will be intergenerational creative prayer, followed by breakout spaces for those who want to socialise. Please contact Hannah Jones if you would like to help with the readings email@example.com
Good Friday Walk of witness –12.30pm Sue has decided to use the 3 hours at the foot of the cross as an opportunity to walk our parish boundary (about 5m in total) see the website, “a church near” you for the route. She has invited friends from Broomhall and the Severn Road Mosque to join her. The intention is for this to be a silent walk of solidarity, with all faiths and none. If you would like to join Sue, she will start on St Mark’s Green, after the midday reflection (which she will offer from church) leaving at 12.30pm.
We have decided to hold the 10am Resurrection Eucharist via Zoom so that we are all worshipping together, including our families. Please share the Zoom code with friends and family far and wide so that this can be a celebration of the breadth of our extended community.
However, you might want to meet in person on Easter Day.
Our Dawn Service will be a gathering on the Green at 5.45am, kindling the Easter flame and celebrating the first light of Easter, followed by a simple sharing of Communion.
At 7pm we will be holding a Communion Service in Church, Night-Service style, to which all are welcome.
PLEASE SIGN UP TO ATTEND DAWN SERVICE AT 5.45am OR COMMUNION AT 7pm ON EASTER SUNDAY email firstname.lastname@example.org and you will receive a confirmation email by Maundy Thursday.
SARAH ROUSSEAU will be off work until April 6. Messages to the office email are being checked, less frequently than usual, so thank you for your patience. Sue
LIBERAL THEOLOGIAN we were delighted by the response to this advert and enjoyed the interviews on Zoom tremendously. We have a preferred candidate who now needs to visit us properly and complete all the diocesan checks and balances but we hope to have some good news to announce before too long. Please continue to hold the discernment process in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. Sue, Pat and John.
ELECTORAL ROLL 2021 If you would like to vote for members of our PCC*, nominate them, or even stand for PCC yourself, you must be on the church’s Electoral Roll (NB you can be on the roll of more than one church). This list is updated each year in time for our APCM* (April 25) and every 6 years must be started from scratch. We do not transfer your details between this list and our list of contacts (Congregational List) so please check to see whether you are on it. It is easy to get on the roll, just fill in this form here (PDF) to print and post, or here (Word) to complete and email. The deadline for this year’s roll is Thursday 8 April. Please return all forms to me via the church office (email@example.com).
The notice which is pinned to the church door can be viewed here.
You can check if you are already on the roll on our website here (if you are on the list you do NOT need to complete a form this time). Thank you. Peter Ryder
*PCC – Parochial Church Council – elected members of the congregation who make decisions on behalf of the church.
*APCM – Annual Parochial Church Meetings – every year the whole church has the opportunity to meet, review our finances and activities, elect churchwardens and members of the PCC. This is how we hold each other to account and it’s really important.
CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 10-16 MAY 2021 There are many options within the campaign this year and nothing is finalised until we see where the Covid restrictions are at the time. We will definitely be offering Christian Aid e-envelopes to the congregation via St Mark’s weekly newsletter and asking for volunteers to deliver ” DELIVER ONLY ENVELOPES ” in streets around the parish. We have not completely ruled out deliver and collect (if Covid allows at the time) by collectors who wish to do that, particularly on their own street.
We are hoping to organise a congregation accumulative John O’Groats to Land’s End sponsored walk and there will be a “Zoom Celebrity Bake Off” and anything else you might like to suggest!!
Please, please email me fundraising ideas and especially PLEASE offer to deliver envelopes. It can add to your Land’s End to John O’Groats target or even towards Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Service , there is no lower age limit as there is no collecting involved.

MARK’S MESSENGER ONLINE The Messenger has worked well for most people as a virtual paper in lockdown. While we are continuing to produce print copies for those who need them – and for visitors and casual readers when lockdown is over – we have decided that in future most subscribers will continue to receive it by e-mail. If you are NOT on the subscriber list but would like to receive it, please email Sarah Rousseau at the office and she will add you to it. We will continue to offer the Messenger free of charge – but do consider making a donation (again, contact the office) – it’s an important part of our life as a community.
BACK IN THE UK – I’m back in the country, and specifically I’m to be found at 8 Ball Road, S6 4LY (if people want to come and shout through the letterbox at me). Alternatively you can shout down the phone at me, on 0114 231 3196, or 07506 277658. Gary Grief
CHRISTIAN CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER AND MEDITATION – If you are seeking a safe space to meet in silence and be still with God, have you considered JULIAN PRAYER? During lockdown we are an e-mail based group which offers a weekly e-mail with a short reading or reflection which you can use as you wish to aid a period of silent or contemplative prayer. Once lockdown ends and it is safe to gather again, we will meet in church on a Monday evening at 6.30 pm. If you would like to integrate this form of prayer into your lifestyle, please e-mail or phone Shan. Shan@stmarkssheffield.co.uk Tel 07598 156817

WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU – Each week during morning and evening prayer, the clergy and pastoral care team pray for each one of you. If you have a specific prayer request for the pastoral care team or for intercessions at services, please let us know by e-mailing office@stmarkssheffield,co.uk or by contacting one of the clergy. Specific requests will remain on the intercessory prayer list for 4 weeks. If there is a need for the request to remain in the prayers for longer, please have a conversation with one of the clergy team. Thank you. Shan
