The community here at St Marks has been horrified by the recent attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando. We are praying for all those who have been killed or injured, and for all those who love them, that they may know the love of God surrounding them.
Although this was an extreme act, it was not an isolated incident. We stand together with LGBT+ people around the world today who will be subjected to abuse, discrimination and persecution because of their sexuality, and also for those for whom this terrible atrocity has evoked painful memories or fear for the future.
We long for the day when all people may live free from fear and prejudice, in mutual understanding, acceptance and love and we commit ourselves to being part of its realisation.
Our church is open from 9-5 on weekdays if you wish to come in to remember, perhaps to light a candle and pray for victims of the Orlando attack, for a brighter future for LGBT+ people, and peace for our world.
