US Presidential Elections

In the light of the US Presidential elections we are mindful that Jesus brought healing in times of great political unrest.  He used his charisma to turn people’s hearts towards a God whose love is transformative and for everyone.  Recent political rhetoric has become binary, pushing us to choose between this or that but Jesus lived in relationships with people and engaged in a more complex social reality.

As followers of Jesus we aren’t always called to agree with one another but we are challenged to lead lives of integrity and compassion.  Where others seek to build walls we are invited to break them down, welcoming the stranger and acknowledging our own fears.  This is not an easy path: we need one another’s help on the journey.  Now is a time for renewed faith, deep courage and an explicit commitment to openness, hospitality and healing… together.
