CONTRIBUTING TO ST MARK’S Thank you to everyone who contributes regularly to the life of this church, with money or time.  Please review your giving – there are “pledge packs” either in your pigeon-hole or blank on top of them.  We have a £10k shortfall between our regular expenditure and our regular giving – can you help?  Opportunities to give time too – see board.  THANK YOU! ST MARK’S FAITH AND JUSTICE GROUP has agreed that in the coming year it will focus on three main themes: Challenge to the Church of England on gender and sexuality; Climate change; and Poverty and inequality. Next meeting at 7 pm on 21 Jan in the Vicarage.  If you are interested in any of these topics and would like to be involved, please inform me, davidprice2@googlemail.com David P

ORDINAND ON PLACEMENT Ela Nutu Hall, an academic theologian and member of St Augustine’s Church will be on placement here until the end of March. She wants to see how our church works so please be honest with her – we also have much to learn. Sue

AMNESTY’S GREETING CARD CAMPAIGN Amnesty invites you to write a greetings card to one of its prisoners of conscience.  Guidelines on each case are at the back of church for you to take home.  It couldn’t be easier! Robin Story

MARK’S MESSENGER The Dec/Jan edition is now in the pigeon holes for those who subscribe, and extra copies (for a £1 donation) are available on the card stand in the corridor.  Sarah R.

FOOD BANK ITEMS Sainsbury’s is introducing shelf-edge labels alerting shoppers to items that are most useful to food banks. Although intended to encourage instore donations, it will be a useful reminder of items to buy for other food banks. Look out for them if you shop in Sainsburys! Michael Miller

VOLUNTEERS FOR FOOD BANK The Jesus Centre in Broomhall needs more volunteers to help at the S6 Food Bank on Mondays. Training is provided. If interested, please contact jamie.greenhough@sheffieldjesuscentre.org.uk Sue

Diocesan Finances The situation is serious, including a moratorium on clergy appointments from outside the Diocese. Bishop Pete talked to Churchwardens in a realistic and visionary way about how we can move forward between now and 2025. A CHRISTMAS CARD FOR ALL On a notice board in the Lounge is a giant card, please write your Christmas message for the whole congregation. Cards from former church members will also be displayed here – please take a look and contribute.  Sarah R

POSADA The nativity figures of Mary & Joseph are travelling around the parish and congregation again – a lovely way to get to know people and to share hospitality. We have several sets of figures so that everyone can join in. Still some gaps, please sign up TODAY. Sarah C
