BROOMFIELD ROAD CLOSURE on Sunday 26th of February Broomfield Road will be closed for a day for construction work on the hospital. We are working with them to minimise noise and disruption but please adjust any travel plans accordingly. InnesNEW BISHOP OF SHEFFIELD The PCC discussed the appt at the meeting on Weds and are planning to respond in ways that will express concern and provide a basis for our future relationship with him. CRC SEMINAR AND LIBRARY MORNING March 11th, 10.30am to 1pm. Can you see me home? We will explore Christian attitudes to assisted dying and care at the end of life. There will be a play for voices, followed by discussion with a panel of St Mark’s people and participants about issues raised. £3 on the door.

PEAK PILGRIMAGE- A LENT GROUP WITH A DIFFERENCE We are planning to walk this 36 mile path from ILAM to the plague church at EYAM, in stages, over 6 Saturdays in Lent starting on 4 March. This is an opportunity to walk, talk and share, and on the way visit 12 very different churches in stunning countryside. Please join us for some or all of this rewarding pilgrimage. GRAHAM AND SUE MURRAY will celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary on Sunday the 26th of February. Congratulations! I will be taking home communion to them on that day and there is a card for them at the back of the church if you wish to sign it. Pat Hunt

BROOMHILL FESTIVAL Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th June 2017. The new planning group is organising a much simpler Festival with Saturday 17th June available for an event at St Mark’s.  Shall we do something different instead of the Garden Party?  Got ideas? SOLD: ANTI-TRAFFICKING FILM will be playing at the Showroom, Tuesday 7th March, 6pm. Directed by Emma Thompson, the film raises awareness of the issue of child trafficking in Nepal. Proceeds from the screening are going to PHASE and Child Reach who work on this issue. Tickets £8.50/£6.30

ST MARK’S IN PRINTCOPIES AVAILABLE TODAY We now have more copies of Churches of the Church of England available, RRP £12.95, our price only £10. This is a very interesting little book, which features St Mark’s. Sarah C.

PLEDGE APPEAL FOR 2017 – To date 71 responses have been received with total extra giving of £7,600 (including recovered tax) promised towards our target of £9,900. They include 4 new pledges and 26 increases.  This is very encouraging and grateful thanks to all who have responded so far.   We still need further increased income of £2,300 and therefore, if you have not done so, please return your pledge form as soon as possible (even if you are unable to increase your giving).  Spare Pledge Appeal packs including a pledge form are available at the back of the Church.  Thank you.  David Ryder.MARK OAKLEY’S LATEST BOOK The Slash of Words: Believing in Poetry is now in the library. It has had marvellous reviews and is a very rewarding book. There are two copies but demand may be high up to Easter so please only borrow for two weeks at a time to give others a chance to look at it.  Maureen Bownas

CTBB GIRLS CLUB is now up and running again with a new leader Hannah Cawley. All girls age 10-16 welcome at the Broomhall Centre, Broomspring Lane on Wednesdays, 6-8pm, for craft, cooking activities, trips out, friendship and just chilling.
