Weekly Update – 1st April 2018

Notices relevant to week beginning 1st April 2018.

TREE WORK will be taking place in the car park on Tuesday 4th April.  This will mean that the car park will be closed for the day.  Work will also be taking place around the church and green during the week. Briony

EXPLORING WHAT MATTERS A course to bolster community and improve mental well-being, every Wednesday evening 7-9pm for 8 weeks from 25 April to 13 June at Broomhill Library.  Developed by Action for Happiness whose Patron is the Dalai Lama http://www.actionforhappiness.org it will be facilitated by Jane Padget and Wilma Scott.  Have a chat with Jane if you would like to know more ?

MISSION PARTNERSHIP NEWS St Mark’s is developing closer links with St Mary’s Walkley, St John’s Ranmoor, The Vine, Upper/Netherthorpe and St Timothy’s Crookes.  Three of these churches are looking for new clergy – St Tim’s has appointed Malcolm Lambert as a 3-year interim Vicar with oversight of the emerging Mission Partnership.  The Vine is readvertising and St John’s is shortlisting.  Please hold all these churches in your prayers. MOVING ON… As many of you know I’ve been on placement at St Aidan’s while training for ordination.  The experience has confirmed a growing sense of connection with the Manor Parish so I have decided to stay there when my placement ends at Easter.  I will keep in touch with St Mark’s and its wonderful people, thank you for your friendship. ANNUAL REPORT AND APCM The deadline has now passed, if you have still to send your piece to the office please contact Sarah R.  On April 29 we receive the report and celebrate the life and activity of our church at our Annual Church meeting.  Please think if you would like to serve the church on the Parochial Church Council (PCC).  We elect members every year so whether you currently serve or not we shall be looking for nominations very soon.  If there’s someone you’d like to represent you, have a word with them too.
