GRAND BOOK SALE This year the Broomhill festival book sale will take place at Broomhill Community Library, NOT at St Mark’s. Good quality books can be dropped off in the library now. If that is impossible, please bring them to church and I will take them to the library. Thanks, Judith Pitchforth

At 4.45pm on Sat 27 May John Hibberd from the Parish Development Team will be visiting St Mark’s for a short prayer session as part of a pilgrimage visiting every parish in this archdeaconry. A new group for women began on Friday 12 May at the Broomhall Centre – learn DIY skills, sewing and intercultural crafts. All women welcome. See flyers – card stall.
ALSO two community events: Weds 31st May, a litter-picking session with police and housing reps – assessing some of the difficult issues facing Broomhall residents at the moment. It would be great for some volunteers from St Mark’s to get involved in the litter picking. Meet on the Gell Street playground at 11am.
Thursday 1 June; community consultation and open day – local churches and community rooms will be open, fire officers, health workers and police, housing association reps and local councillors will be available for residents to meet and talk about local issues. Fire engines and appliances will be on various sites too! Sue
SHEFFIELD PRIDE 2017 is on Saturday 29th July in Endcliffe Park. St Mark’s and other local churches are hosting a joint stall again as an affirming Christian presence. Please let Sibylle or Sarah C know asap if you’d like to be part of the planning team.

PEACE IN THE PARK – Festival, Saturday 10 June. Local churches are invited to meet together on the Sunday morning for worship and then help to clean up as an act of service, then a picnic. This is Sheffield’s free arts festival – promoting peace and understanding by bringing communities together through artistic, musical and vocal expression. http://www.peaceinthepark.org.ukCould be fun!
