CHURCH WEEKEND AWAY Following the success of our weekend in 2012, we have booked the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, for 18-20 September 2015.  This is definitely one not to miss.  For all ages and outlooks!

STATIONS OF LIFE LETTING GO is the title of our third Station of Life, to be found in the font area of church.

HOME PRODUCE A reminder that if you’re making jams or chutney over the summer, please could you do extra jars for the Harvest Produce stall? Donations of empty jars for others to use would also be welcome. Thanks, Alison.

DISCUSSION GROUP Our long-established discussion group badly needs some new members – we meet regularly on alternate Monday evenings, and the group is very open, friendly and sociable.  If you might be interested, and would like to know more please talk to Pauline Miller, Rosie Richards or Judith Price.”


PARISH DAY: CREATING UNCOMMON WORSHIP HERE on Saturday 27 September, 9.30 am – 1.30 pm. Please take a flyer and sign up if you’d like to come so that we have an idea of numbers in advance.  Richard Giles will help us to think about how we can enrich our worship through creative use of movement and space, and in other ways too.  This could change the way you see St Mark’s…

CRC AUTUMN CONFERENCE Rowan Williams will lead a day on the theme, ‘Faith in search of understanding today,’ on Saturday 8 November, 10.00 am – 3.30 pm. Tickets: £18 (non-members); £15 (CRC/PCN); £5 (students/unwaged). Places are going quickly so book early!


BURNGREAVE ASHRAM are holding their next Multi-faith Lunch and Seminar on Monday 1st September at 12noon. This month there will also be a book-sharing from 11am based on the book Dhalia: Defending the Truth by Sheikh Nazim. For more details see the poster in the foyer.


MARY SHARROCK celebrates her birthday this week and there is a card to sign at the back of church. If you would also like to pass a message on to Mary, please speak to Helen Hillman, 258 4241.MUSICIANS: ST MARK’S NEEDS YOU! Do you sing in the shower? How would you like to sing in St Mark’s Choir instead? We rehearse weekly on Thursdays, 6.30-8pm for Sunday morning worship. Do you play an instrument? BROOMHALL FESTIVAL is NEXT SATURDAY – 1.00pm -4.00pm. I could still do with some more baking. Come aling anyway – all welcome! This is a great way to get to know Broomhall a little better. Celebration of food & festivities with open allotments, tours around the Community Gardens, healthy-eating cooking demos, stalls, afternoon tea at the Broomhall Centre and family fun at the Jesus Centre. CAR WASH & CAKE SALE last week was a great success.  Many thanks to everybody for your support. The girls were delighted to raise over £200!

ST. AIDAN’S ON THE MANOR is having their Patronal Festival NEXT SUNDAY and all of St. Mark’s are invited! The service is at 10.30am and there will be refreshments afterwards. If you would be interested in going please sign the sheet at the back of church.

CRIME COMMISSIONER Shaun Wright has launched his summer grant scheme. Non-profit groups providing activities in South Yorkshire are encouraged to apply for funding of up to £10,000. Groups should be working towards: reducing antisocial behaviour; protecting the vulnerable; preventing reoffending; ensuring victims/witnesses get a better deal. Further details:


BROOMHILL LIBRARY Our much-loved local library will close in October unless enough volunteers come forward. An enthusiastic group is working to ensure that this valuable community asset has a future.
