Weekly Update – 25th December 2016

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS! from all the clergy at St Mark’s.  We hope that you feel truly blessed, that you may be a blessing to others.  Sue, Sarah and Shan.

THANK YOU  to all who have helped with extra Services over Christmas: flower arrangers, welcomers, Christingle helpers, refreshment coordinators, servers, readers, intercessors and vergers; to our sacristan, silver cleaner linen washers and transport providers…  There is more to this church than meets the eye so thank you all!  If you’d like to join one of the teams, please have a word with Sue, Sarah or Shan.

PLEDGES FOR 2017  – If you haven’t received a Pledge Pack there are spares at the back of church.  Please complete the enclosed Pledge Form for 2017 asap.   Unfortunately, on the Form’s Commitment page, the tick boxes are misaligned with the giving amounts!  To avoid confusion please circle the amount rather than ticking a box.  Thank you.  David Ryder

WINTER CLOTHING is very much in demand at Soup Run just right now (as you might expect!?) So if you’ve got any spare coats or other warm items that folk who are on the streets might particularly appreciate, Soup Run would be very grateful for them. Have a chat with Gary or any of the Soup Run supervisors if you need to know more. Many thanks.Gary.

A DIGITAL VERSION of Sunday’s liturgy can be emailed to you in advance.  Please contact Anna in the office.

HOLIDAYS Sarah will be away from parish duties 26 Dec – 3 Jan; Shan from 29 Dec- 2 Jan and Sue from 2- 7 Jan (inc). Thank you to those who are covering during our absences!

HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS The Church and Office will be CLOSED for the whole week Mon 26 – Fri 30 Dec and also for the Bank Holiday on Mon 2 January.

CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR It is with regret that I have accepted the resignation of Nicki Loomes as Parish Administrator.  Unfortunately this post wasn’t right for her at this time.  We are exploring options as this newsletter is going to print so hopefully there’ll be some good news in the new year!  Sue

SUNDAY LUNCH The next lunch will be a bring and share meal on 8th Jan co-ordinated by the International Committee.  See the sign-up sheet at the back of church: please come along and share food and stories from the festive season.  Sue

VISITING PREACHER  On the same day (8th Jan)  Liz Carnelley from the Church Urban Fund will be sharing her experience of NEAR NEIGHBOURS a project which helps to cross the divisions within communities. To share in conversation with her afterwards is another good reason to stay for lunch!
