EXPLORING FAITH: a new course for all who would like to consider their faith in more depth, is starting on Mon Nov 6 at 7.30 pm and will run for 6 weeks. Whether you are new to faith, new to St Mark’s, thinking about confirmation or considering your vocation, this group will be a good opportunity to learn and grow together. PILGRIM: the group which meets on Thursdays at 5pm is going to continue. This is a space to learn from one another using the CofE Pilgrim booklet series as a guide for conversation. Interested in joining? See Sue/Sarah

MARTIN LUTHER: John Schofield will lead a CRC Seminar evening on 1st November at 7pm on Martin Luther: Revolutionary. And Radical? All welcome – £3 on the door.

COMMEMORATION SERVICE for ALL SOULS 6pm TODAY: all are welcome to come and remember loved ones who have died. A list is on the prayer table to add names of those you would like to be remembered aloud. Please hold all who are bereaved in your thoughts and prayers. Sarah/ Sue

SERVICE OF CELEBRATION SCCCC at Sheffield Cathedral 7.00pm TOMORROW. Recognising 50 years of helping older people in Sheffield. The Archbishop of York and Bishop Pete will be in attendance alongside representatives of CTBB Work with Older People. Rob Wilks

FUND RAISING BY EMILY THATCHER: A COFFEE & CAKE MORNING at St Mark’s on 25 November at 10am will raise funds for a colleague whose family were severely injured in the Manchester Terror attack and will need their home adapting for when they leave hospital. Details of what you struggle to hear, where you sit in church, if you find particular speakers difficult or when particular sound desk operators are on duty – all info welcome. Tanya

BACH FOR NEPAL CONCERT: A concert of music by J S Bach will be held at St Mark’s, on Friday 3 Nov at 8.00 p.m., in aid of PHASE Worldwide, the medical charity working in the remotest areas of Nepal.

ST JOHNS CHURCH, RANMOOR: Please keep the churchwardens and members of St John’s in your thoughts and prayers. They are currently undergoing serious repairs to their church ceiling. Several pre-booked events are now being held here, so ensure all St Mark’s events are booked in with the office. Sue

JENNY CARPENTER would be delighted to see friends from St. Marks at the Service of Thanksgiving for the life of her late husband, Joe, at The Beacon Methodist Church, Broomhill on Wed 8 November at 2pm. This will follow committal and cremation at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium at 1.15 (family and close friends only). Both services will be led by Rev. Dr. Inderjit Bhogal OBE.

RACHEL MANN will be leading a session for St Mark’s, CRC and the new “Open Sheffield” network on Sat 2nd Dec; ‘Celebrating Our Gifts: The joy of being Christian & LGBTQIA.’ Canon Rachel Mann is an Anglican priest, writer and poet. Her latest book is Fierce Imaginings: The Great War, Ritual, Memory & God. Bookings open soon and more info to follow. Sue

BIG WEEKEND AWAY 2018 21-23 September 2018 is the weekend that the St Mark’s congregations will be ‘Embodying Hope’ at The Hayes Conference Centre, Derbyshire. More details to follow but please put the date in your diary now! Tanya

PATRICIA SIMEON was released from Yarl’s Wood Detention Centre following a successful campaign. Thank you to all who signed the petition. We need to keep her (and so many others like her) in our thoughts and prayers as she continues to seek asylum in this country. Sue H
