SHAN’S SABBATICAL In order to re-evaluate my working pattern and make time to undertake some further education, from mid July I will being taking a 3 month sabbatical. I will still worship at St Mark’s but will be more evident in the pews than up front. My thanks go especially to Sue and  Sarah for enabling me to take this time. Shan


 RISE OF THE HEROES is the next fantastic concert by Chorus UK at the City Hall TODAY at 3.00pm.  For those of you who saw Chorus UK during the Broomhill Festival you will know how high the standard is of this community choir.  Flyers are at the back of church for more details or simply go along this afternoon.  Tickets are on sale on the door.  Anne Padget (performing in this with Jane Padget and Carol Rowe)

SHEFFIELD CHORALE’S “Midsummer Miscellany’’ featuring John Rutter’s Wind in the Willows, songs from the shows and popular classics is here at St Mark’s on 16th July at 7.30 pm.  Ticket prices and further details are on the posters in the entrance lobby or speak to David Ryder (performing in Abbeydale and Chorale concerts).

NEW COMMUNICATIONS/PRESS/ PUBLICITY GROUP Ensuring good communication in a church of this size is a real challenge!  A new PCC group is being asked to review and (hopefully) enable better communication. MULTIFAITH FOREST GARDEN THIS SATURDAY 11am – 2pm.Parkwood Forest Garden is abeautiful calm space and a productive permaculture project. This month we will be continuing with spummer weeding, selective tree pruning and the usual maintenance tasks. If you would like to stop for a shared lunch at around 1pm, that would be great. Bring your own food and maybe something to share. Please see the poster in the foyer for more details. Anne

NADIA BOLZ-WEBER, Lutheran pastor, author and passionate advocate of inclusivity, from Colorado, will be speaking here at St Mark’s on her whistle-stop tour of the UK.  Tickets are free and are now sold out but you can still get on the waiting list.  Thursday 1 September, 7:00pm for 7.30pm. Bookings via a link on the St Mark’s website (best way) if you are having difficulties please ring the Church Office. Please book now for the best chance of getting a waiting list place.

SHEFFIELD PRIDE – 30 JULY at Endcliffe Park, 12noon 7.00pm.  St. Mark’s will have a stall here and it promises to be a great day.  In the light of the recent atrocity in Orlando it is even more important to show our solidarity with people who often find themselves the target of abuse.  Sibylle Batten and Anne Padget


ROY AND BERYL BARRY Many of you will know that Roy and Beryl are moving soon. We are hoping to be able to say our farewells on Sunday 10th July. A card is available to sign at the back of church. They don’t want leaving gifts, so instead there will be a retiring collection on the 10th for the Development Education Centre South Yorkshire, a charity which Roy helped set upwww.decsy.org.uk.  Advance donations can be given to David Ryder.
