Following the Prime Minister’s announcement that places of worship can begin to open, with appropriate measures in place, you will be wanting to know when you can come back to St Mark’s.
We have already begun a thorough cleaning process – including all soft furnishings. We have some contractors booked in, routine plumbing and maintenance but also the long-awaited upgrade of the sound-system, to include better projection facilities, perfect timing.
We are confident that by mid-July the church will be ready for pre-arranged visits by individuals. Expressions of interest to the church office will be responded to nearer the time. Thank you.
The PCC has established a Recovery Working Group which is looking closely at risk assessments and appropriate signage within the building. We will continue to worship online while a Worship Working Group gathers to consider our movement towards worshipping within the building. Recent services have shown us how much can be achieved when we use Zoom, with participants from Jordan, Dublin, Paris and even from across the Pennines! We don’t want to lose the very real advantages of online worship but we do acknowledge that many of you are eagerly awaiting the return of services within St Mark’s. We see this as an integrated process moving forward together and we are listening to your hopes and fears.
Several members of staff are about to take annual leave so we are very grateful for your continued patience at this time of more unsettling change. Your church community remains open online and by telephone and we want to ensure that we move forward with ever-increasing openness and warmth. Each of us continues to play our part in what that will look like. Thank you.
Sue, Sarah, Philip and Pat.
