How and where are we being called as a church and as individuals to serve God, the community and one another.
Opportunities for volunteers at St Mark’s are listed below. Please contact the office for more information.

Join the team who put on the lunch and friendship club, weekly on a Wednesday.

Join the welcome team who greet people at the door before the service occasionally

Join the children’s and young people team, support the children during services.

Become a reader, read the bible during the service occasionally.

Become a PCC member, meet monthly and share leadership responsibility for the Parish with the incumbent.

Join a planning group, such as for the diamond anniversary events or the parish weekend.

Become a representative for our church with the diocese or deanery.

Join the communications group, help us develop and implement better methods of communication at St Mark’s.

Join the fabric and finance group, monitor, manage and report to the PCC on the maintenance and improvement of church buildings, grounds and equipment.

Join the team that mow the green.

Become a chalice assistant, help clergy distribute Holy Communion during Sunday morning services

Join the Soup Run who take warm food and clothes to people sleeping rough on weekends.

Become a Mark’s messenger editor or contributor, prepare the layout, collect or write articles.

Join the environment group, respond to the climate crisis

Join the home donations group, provide small grants to charities in Sheffield that make a practical difference

Join the international donations group, allocate funding to international charities

Join the study and learning group, enable people to explore a living, thinking, loving, faith

Join the technology group, learn to set up and operate our sound desk, laptop and projector, set up the microphones and share a PowerPoint presentation

Play an instrument or join the choir, practising once a week and singing on Sunday mornings.

Become a verger, act as caretakers helping the clergy set up for services such as baptisms, weddings and funerals.

Become an assistant warden, support clergy and wardens to ensure services are run smoothly and safely.

Become a eucharistic minister, assist with distributing the sacrament of Holy Communion in the church or to those who are sick, housebound or in our local care homes.

Join the flower arranging team, receive training and arrange the altar flowers a few times a year.

Put on a fundraising event, St Mark’s is working towards carbon neutral by 2030 and needs to raise the funds for triple glazing.
