Christ's presence in the Eucharist: two contemporary eucharistic prayers
Author: Ian Wallis
Ian Wallis, a former Principal of the Yorkshire Ministry Course, Vicar of St Mark’s Broomhill and Chair of St Mark’s CRC, continues to teach and write in the areas of biblical studies and contemporary theology. |
In his first article entitled,
Christ’s Presence in the Eucharist: Rediscovering an Ancient Paradigm and Practice, Ian Wallis explored the idea that at the Last Supper, Jesus entrusted the ministry he had embodied so extraordinarily into the hands of his apprentice disciples, requiring a transformation which was initially sited in the communal life of believers but which over time shifted onto the elements of bread and wine themselves.
In this second article Ian Wallis develops these themes and offers two Thanksgiving Prayers which focus on the transformation of the participants at a eucharistic celebration.
